Alain Planès et Ralph van Raat
Piano has always been modern. It was at its highest point when Joseph Haydn was writing, when in Paris the revolution took place, his C-major sonata ; it still was when Gyorgy Ligeti started his Studies, still surrounded bu the noise of the fall of Berlin Wall. Despite this context of booming, eveything approaches the two composers : their origins, their taste of virtuosity, their spirituality, and for this night Alain Planès and Ralph Van Raat, two talented performers. Each behind his piano, they played and then they listen, in a tempestuous dialog of modernity.
Pieces of Joseph Haydn (Variations en fa mineur HOb XVII:6, Partita en sol majeur HOb XVI:6, Sonate en do majeur HOb XVI:48) and György Ligeti (Etude 13 : Escalier du diable, Etude 14 : Colona inifinita, Etude 9 : Vertige, Etude 10 : Zauberlehring)
