FRAGMENT OF A PORNOGRAPHIC DISCOURSE
Chiens is presented as a plastic and musical installation.
Following La Vie invisible, Un sacre, and Léviathan, this performance is the fourth part of a series that, starting from an observation of the gaps in contemporary social systems, uses symbolic and performative means of fiction to try to address this reality.
Chiens is based on a major judicial case, commonly referred to as "the porn trial." This case highlights the extreme violence of the mainstream pornography industry, which normalizes serious violations of human dignity.
The performance, on the other hand, embarrasses our ideal of justice as well as the organization and conditioning of the contemporary penal system. It questions the history of our gaze through the lens of the pornography industry, beyond good and evil.
Chiens attempts to bring to the center the inaudible victims of a system of representations and to create moments of transformation. The oxymoronic confrontation between the liturgical form of music and its dialogue with pornography exposes violence, mocks the norm, challenges, reclaims its confiscated conflicts, and emancipates itself.
Organized around two cantatas by Bach, adapted by Othman Louati, along with an original composition by him, Chiens features a hybrid choir of both professional and amateur performers, accompanied by the musicians of Miroirs Étendus. Lorraine de Sagazan
