Yom & Quatuor IXI
Inspired by sacred music of diverse origins, the virtuoso clarinet-player Yom, brings forth the sunken worlds, neither quite real nor quite imaginary.
It is in the forests of the Lot, on the slopes of the Massif Central, that Yom composed the music of his new repertoire: between the end of Winter and the beginning of Spring solitude steered him towards mysticism and spirituality. In it he found the inspiration for “Illuminations”, a work that oscillates between Western classical music, contemporary music, and the modal music of Eastern Europe and the Middle East. In order to give this project greater musical freedom and stronger identity, Yom called on the string quartet IXI that counts two generations of emblematic figures of the contemporary jazz scene. An astounding and demanding combination of talents suitable for any experimental undertaking.
