Creation, Opening up, Sharing

Le Cercle des partenaires des Bouffes du Nord gathers all of those who, whether individuals, companies or foundations, are fond of the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord and share its values.

A mythical theatre offering the artists a unique setting and excellent acoustics, the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord appeals to directors, comedians, musicians and composers. It assists artists and troupes in the design and production stages of their shows. Each year, 3 to 5 new theatre, musical theatre and opera productions and about ten new classical concerts programmes come into existence.

Le Cercle des partenaires des Bouffes du Nord encourages this creative dynamic, participating in the production of new shows and concerts each season. Le Cercle subsides the whole initial investment preceding the first performance: research work, commissions, rehearsals, costumes and set design,...

A creation hothouse, the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord is open to the world as much as to its close environment. The Bouffes du Nord productions tour in France and worldwide, with around 250 performances per year -being as many as in Paris.

Le Cercle des partenaires des Bouffes du Nord contributes to touring new theatre and musical programmes, funding the artists’ travel and living expenses and the equipment transportation in France and worldwide.

Connected both to the city and to its neighbourhood, the theatre undertakes local outreach actions aiming at access for all to theatre and musical creation, and for youth and people remote from culture in particular.

Le Cercle offers free tickets for theatre shows and concerts to varied types of audience, often unfamiliar with cultural offerings (schools, neighbours, deprived students, etc.).

The Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord places repertoire works in dialogue with creations; recognised talents with young artists. Carrying on the sharing tradition dear to Peter Brook, it opens its doors and turns to conversant audience members as well as to the most remote from cultural matters. La Belle Saison, a programme of classical concerts, organises over 50 days of educational actions throughout France each season, intended for very diverse audiences (pupils, students, disabled and hospitalised persons, elderly persons in retirement homes, etc.).

Le Cercle des partenaires stands by all undertakings intended for the youth, schools and audiences unacquainted with culture or in occupational integration. It supports all the actions led in partnership with local organisations and schools, funding tickets for performances and allowing the participation of artists, external contributors and facilitators.

Le Cercle has also created its own programme: “Tous au théâtre après l'école !”. During a whole school year, 50 children discover the Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord, its programme and careers in the performing arts through weekly theatre and music workshops; the participants are being supervised in the production process of their own show.
