Rufus Wainwright
It has been three years since the Canadian-American author, composer and performer, Rufus Wainwright, last played in Paris. His theatrical pop takes us back to American popular traditional music of Tin Pan Alley, that of cabarets and even opera.
Son of Loudon Wainwright III and Kate Mc Garrigle, Martha Wainwright’s brother… composing runs in his veins. Thanks to his own rock heritage, he breaks away from their influence, composes eight studio albums and an opera, Prima Donna. The musical and theatrical dimensions of his performances can at moments awaken an almost religious feeling.
An outstanding tenor, his voice of a rare intensity carries emotions like nobody else’s and reveals to us the different facets of his soul. An evening with him is a unique poetic and bohemian moment. His concert at the Bouffes du Nord promises to be an intimate moment in which Rufus Wainwright will offer his art alone, on the piano and guitar. His last album « Take All My Loves: 9 Shakespeare Sonnets » came out in the Spring of 2016 on Deutsche Grammophon.
