Rencontre avec Enki Bilal
Dessinateur autodidacte, peintre, plasticien et cinéaste, Enki Bilal est l’artiste protéiforme et multi-média par excellence. Précurseur de la bande dessinée politique (avec le scénariste Pierre Christin) et figure tutélaire de la BD de science-fiction, le natif de Belgrade, arrivé en France à l’âge de 10 ans, a aussi largement contribué à l’accession du 9e art dans les salles de vente, en pulvérisant lui-même de nombreux records d’enchères.
Derrière les succès opère un créateur fécond, obnubilé par les questions mémorielles et la place occupée par les technologies. Convaincu que les artistes ont souvent un « coup d’avance », Enki Bilal a anticipé, dans son œuvre, des événements ayant fini par avérer, comme les attentats terroristes du 11-Septembre. L’imagination peut-elle, ou doit-elle, être prédictive ? La question sera posée à celui qui, dans son dernier ouvrage, Bug (Casterman), relate les conséquences provoquées par un gigantesque raz-de-marée numérique, généralisé à l’ensemble de la planète.
