I have written novels, several theatre plays, children’s books and a film script but never yet a libretto for an opera. It will not be the case of trying out a new experience, but of renewing my writing practice, opening it to a form that is foreign to me at present – that of a monolog that cannot be heard, even understood, without music. It should be neither a narrative nor poetry but a blend of fiction and lyricism. It will be voice of a woman that will tell us of key events of her existence: to be a daughter and a mother, to be from one region, from one country, to be part of the community of humans, to belong to mankind and yet be a woman, this special, always peculiar sort.
