After Traviata / Vous méritez un avenir meilleur, Benjamin Lazar returns to Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord for a new work on the frontier between theatre and music. It is inspired by a Renaissance masterpiece the Heptameron, left unfinished on Day Seven by Marguerite de Navarre, sister of François Premier and a grand lady of letters. Confined by torrential rain, a group of men and women decide that each would tell one love story a day, terrifying or moving, but always true. In this contemporary adaptation, written in complicity with the conductor Geoffroy Jourdain, these by-gone stories mingle with stories of today, building unexpected bridges between beings, languages, countries and centuries. The invitation to the journey takes place in a moving temporality, to the sound of sung poems, baroque madrigals by Claudio Monteverdi, Luca Marenzio, Benedetto Pallavicino, Carlo Gesualdo, Michelangelo Rossi and Biagio Marini, that reveal their full theatrical force. The eight singers of Cris de Paris and the three actors of Théâtre de l'Incrédule will become painters, using all nuances of the spoken and sung voice to immerse the audience in the deep and dark room of their imagination.
