Andando is a music-theatre proposal bringing together six actresses-singers and three musicians, around Lorca’s poetry and Pascal Sangla’s music.
At the end of The House of Bernarda Alba, Adela, convinced of the death of Pepe the Romano, the man whom she loves, commits suicide. She was a free young woman who loved to dance and sing. Bernarda will close the house even more, and impose silence on her daughters.
The story starts when Bernarda dies at her wake. Their mother dead, what would happen to her daughters?
Through six female figures, all part of Lorca’s work, it’s Federico who tells himself. Implicitly, we discover Spain during the summer of 1936, torn between modernity and freedom on the one hand, and tradition and conservatism on the other. That summer, Spain fell into civil war.
Andando is a rare event. The meeting of singular talents around a common dream: to revive, the time of a wild musical evening, the soul and the dreams of Federico Garcia Lorca.
