We are happy to celebrate this year the fifth season of WorldStock Festival.
Once again we have, with great pleasure, picked out particularly outstanding projects of « Music of Worlds ». Since the music has, since time immemorial, been the best opportunity for weaving relationships of a common world, we invite you on a journey in a foreign land, a moment of resonance with music that conveys emotions and energies. Music of WorldStock knows no frontiers; it favours apprenticeship of difference, like a hand stretched out to the foreigner.
WorldStock Festival continues to proliferate: three evenings at the New Morning and one at Quai Branly will be added to those presented at Bouffes du Nord.
The velvety tones of António Zambujo’s most prominent voice of neo-fado will resonate in the precious setting of Bouffes du Nord. The atypical DakhaBrakha will introduce us to shambolic Ukrainian folk music, and the Da Kali Trio, traditional music group from Mali, will sound the balafon and the n’goni to accompany the enchanting voice of one of the most brilliant « griots » from Mali.
Carried by the irresistible energy of the Escalandrum group, the Argentinian star Elena Roger will propose a jazz/tango show in homage to Astor Piazzolla, and Rabih Abou-Khalil, the key-figure of Lebanese oud playing, known for building bridges between the cultures of the East and the West, will make his grand Parisian come-back.
The virtuoso clarinettist Yom interweaves a mosaic of inspirations: in collaboration with the IXI Quartet, he will present Illuminations, a piece that oscillates between Jewish music from Oriental and Central Europe, and Western sacred music.
