Portrait, landscape Tables, chairs. Bodies, words. All around rhythm and void. And from there, let it come. Let the strangeness breathe, help it come alive by giving it a palpable form. Try this scene and then another. Draw a landscape portraying Marie NDiaye’s writing. Without striving to fit it into an existing theatre form. Rather the opposite. One stands in a hazy zone, at the extreme edge of stage possibilities… Welcome to a world where the colours of unease and of humour borrow their nuances from Kafka or from a detective novel, from unsaid things in villages and small towns, and from fairy tales. We travel through a very rich voice, encountering several registers, from solemn to grotesque. This is a collective journey. Without its performers this « archipelago » would have looked quite different. I wish to thank them for the pleasure it has given me. I hope that it will be shared, and that it will give some spectators the desire to read or to plunge again into the works of a great novelist.
