António Zambujo Solo
This is the first solo concert in France of the Portuguese singer António Zambujo who has, in the space of a few years, become a true icon in his own country.
In Portugal, the saudade is a national affair, and António Zambujo knows better than anyone else how to sing the vertigo and the nuances of its glittering melancholy. On the wings of a velvety voice of rare and welcoming beauty, he brought about a revolution in fado with a style of his own, and a taste for gliding in free space.
At present time António Zambujo is a true concert phenomenon in Portugal and his concerts are invariably sold out. His voice makes us think of the great Brazilian singers – João Gilberto, Caetano Veloso – but also of Chet Baker and his cool jazz: it’s not quite fado, but it maintains all of its intensity and sweet sensuality. His last album Até Pensei Que Fosse Minha, that came out in Portugal and in Brazil in November of 2016, was recorded with his friend Chico Buarque.
