Journey through the musical world of Pippo Delbono
My relation with music has always been quite important. Who knows,
maybe because of the memories I carry, of my father who used to play the
violin and had to suddenly quit because of his work; or maybe because
of the supposed family descent from Nicolò Paganini; also because of the
years I spent running after musicians who changed my life - from Frank
Zappa to many other rock icons, leading me to plunge myself into the
music of other populations and in the end to get close to the opera. I
increasingly collaborated with musicians, maybe because of a crisis
with my « theatrical family », with the work of an actor, with the
tricks of theatrical fiction. The harmony I found with was closer to my
work both as an actor and as author; a work almost completely based on
rhythm, on musicality and not on words interpretation. On rhythm,
choreography of music and dance in a show, more than on stage
direction.
All I want is music and basta. Like «a powder clock », music falls into music. Music falls into music just as my voice falls into other voices All I now want is music - and basta.
