Quatuor Arod
It is in 2013 that four musicians fresh out of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (Paris Music Academy) decide to form the Arod Quartet. This ensemble, whose fame is on the rise, won the first prize for string quartets in the prestigious ARD International Music Competition in Munich in 2016. The previous French prize-winner was the Ébène Quartet, mentor of this young group, whom we shall meet again at Théâtre des Bouffes du Nord in May 2018.
For this concert the ensemble shall play Schubert’s touching Rosamunde, the only quartet that had been performed in the composer’s life-time, as well as the second quartet from Mendelssohn’s Opus 44, composer whom the Arod Quartet has chosen for their first recording (Erato Warner Classics, to come out in the Autumn of 2017).
The program also includes the world première of Al ‘Asr, The Afternoon Prayer by the young French composer, conductor, and violinist Benjamin Attahir. In other words: when merit does not have to wait to be recognized…
